Why Disc Golf?

This school year has been tough on students, teachers, friends, and families. As a member of the Carsonville-Port Sanilac community, I wanted to share my joy of disc golf with the students. During most of the government shutdowns, disc golf was a sport that allowed me to get out of the house while remaining socially distanced. When the idea of a Disc Golf Club was brought to the schools attention, the administration felt it could be a great way to get kids involved in a sport that could last a lifetime. Unlike most sports, Disc Golf can be played by people of any age. It is something they can take home and try with their families. Students can get together with their friends and play casually or challenge their buddy to see who can do better that day. All around, Disc Golf is for everyone.

Disc Golf is also a very inexpensive sport to get into. The three basic discs (driver, mid-range, putter) can be found in a set online for only $20. However, due to some generous strangers and myself, a large amount of discs will be made available to any student who would like to try Disc Golfing for the first time. Two baskets were donated to the school, so students are welcome to stay after classes on certain days to practice or as for advice. On certain days, the students will be offered the opportunity to meet at a disc golf course 20 minutes away in Croswell to try playing an actual course.
